Youth Group Meeting – February 23, 2020
Our theme for this meeting was Lent. While waiting for everyone to arrive, we played soccer outside, with a bit of a twist – you had to get the ball past the demons of temptation. After opening prayer, we played “Messy Tug-o-war” using a pool noodle coated with oil! Temptation is slippery and a struggle, always having the devil tempt you to the wrong direction. However, Christ is our anchor and Lent is a time to grow in our strength against the devil/opposing team. Inside for a Kahoot! quiz about Lent, then we ate a delicious taco salad prepared by one of our wonderful meal benefactors. Finally, we painted a special Lent tablecloth for our prayer table. The tablecloth is a visual and personal representation of the ashes we will receive on Ash Wednesday. This tablecloth will be on our prayer table all through lent, symbolizing that we are not alone in our temptations and our journeys to grow in faith. Between meetings it will hang in the church hall as a reminder to the entire parish that we are all in this together!
