Our choir ministry includes a diverse group of volunteers made up of various ages, skill levels, as well as cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Our mission is to help draw people closer to the Lord Jesus Christ though the heartfelt expression of sung prayer. We are proud to lead the congregation in these parts of the liturgy and are very passionate about our ministry.
There are four Masses each weekend. Saturday Vigils at 4:00PM, (English) and 6:00 P.M. (Spanish), Sunday 9:00AM (English) and 1:00PM (Spanish). There is a separate choir group at each of these Masses, although a few members attend multiple ones. We meet for practice every other Thursday from Labor Day week through Corpus Christi. There are additional practices in November and December for our annual Christmas program. We also present this program to our local community at the “Church Street Christmas.”
The Spanish choir has two different groups which enable them to share the ministry duties and provide alternate musical styles for that Mass. The Spanish and English choirs collaborate for several bilingual celebrations around various Holy Days and Feasts. This is always very well received by both communities and is a special blessing for both choir groups. One of the things we are very proud of is that our choirs are true family in many ways. Many of our members are husband and wife, and their children participate too. We get together for celebrations and parties outside of our ministry, and really enjoy each other’s company. We are always looking for new members to join our family.
Share your talents and join our choir. At Saint Ritas, we have many opportunities to join our mass choirs and special events.
